The Sign of the Swan (Swan)

Konzert Theater Bern

New music for a dance theatre work by Estefania Miranda, in addition to a piece by Arvo Pärt. The work is part of a thematic triple bill (Swan) inspired by Swan Lake, for which Estefana Miranda is also the overall artistic director.

About

Swan Lake is the ultimate classic among narrative ballets. But what remains of the story when the lovers are united, the black swan is exposed and the tutu is removed? With Swan, the three-part dance evening, the dance company Konzert Theater Bern presents new perspectives on the classic. And these perspectives are deeper, more current and more radical.

After the great success of Four Seasons the year before, dance director Estefania Miranda takes a critical look at the tradition of the ballerinas in Swan Lake in her new choreography. The choreographer gives her piece a feminist touch and sends the title character Odile on a search for herself – in an age in which major dance companies still almost exclusively fill their leading roles with white artists.
