Toneelmakerij

Sound design for a contemporary cross-over between Dracula and the myth of Orpheus. I performed the soundscapes live on stage including several pieces together with composer / live musician Beppe Costa. Also some video design and editing in collaboration with scenographer Guus van Geffen.

About

Orpheus and Eurydice vs. Count Dracula

Deep underground in an abandoned metro station lives the vampire Dracula and his servants. With countless cameras he keeps an eye on the world above and records the comings and goings of people. He relentlessly searches for truth and lies, with only one desire: to capture life and feed on real happiness and real sadness. When the girl Eurydice appears on his screen, the monster in him awakens.

Eurydice is happy. She is young, beautiful and Orpheus loves her. They are children of the gods. With the world at their feet and a golden future ahead of them. Nothing to worry about. Until she suddenly disappears. Desperate, Orpheus goes in search of his love. A quest that takes him to the deepest depths of the city, where a confrontation with Dracula awaits him.

Metro is an age-old love story retold in a mash-up of theater, music, film, gaming and social media. A search for what life is worth.
