Louterbloemen

Toneelgroep de Appel

Sound design / soundscapes and some additional music for a devised play by Geert de Jong for the ensemble of Toneelgroep de Appel.

Louterbloemen was nominated for the Toneelpublieksprijs (audience award) 2009.

About

‘Grant everyone their madness’ is the credo with which Geert de Jong concluded the first rehearsal for Louterbloemen on January 13. After her successful performances Dans (2004) and 5.51u (2006), Geert de Jong is venturing into a new project in the main hall.

With an eye for detail, Geert de Jong describes four days in the life of the Louterbloemen allotment complex. As in a film script, light, sound, time of day, attendance and actions of the characters are precisely described. Only halfway through the script does a conversation arise for the first time. The characters mainly try to make something of life in silence. Some of them are lonely, perhaps neglected. But not ruined. There is always hope, a little bit of attention is enough to make them flourish.
