About

I’m a sound and light designer based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The core of my work is developing sound and light designs for theatre & dance performances, (installation) art & exhibitions and media & films. These sound designs often include the composition of music, and in rare spare moments I also develop my own non-commissioned works.

My education was as a dramaturg but I also have a strong background in touring and still offer technical services for selected projects, including as a light or sound technician, technical production manager or programmer for various light consoles, show control systems and interactive media environments.

Occasionally I also write about theater, design and other things and teach on subjects related to my work. I was a freelance writer and editor for Zichtlijnen (a Dutch magazine about stagecraft and design) for 10 years and a teacher of sound design at the Theatre and Dance Academy (Amsterdam University of the Arts).

I’m a partner in Denzo Theater Techniek and the administrative side of my work runs via this company.

I am a member of the Vereniging voor Podiumtechnology, the Dutch chapter of the OISTAT (International Organisation of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians), and a member of the OISTAT Sound Design Sub-Commission.
